River Talks at Omaru Creek Point England Reserve

River Talks - a Recount by Silia Pulotu

After school we went to the Riverside talk. This was on the other side of G.I. It was me, my Mum, Sia and Mrs.Middleton. I had a ride in my teacher’s car. When we got there we were just standing on the footpath because we didn’t know if it was the right place. We walked up and went to see if that was the river talk when the lady came she asked us if we are joining  the river talk and we said yes so we went and stood by the tree.

There was a Maori man who did a Maori talk about the river. I wanted to know but I couldn’t understand. I was at the very front with Sia and Aaliyah. There was a man in the dirty river. He showed us how dirty it is. It looks like a muddy puddle and it is muddy. We went from there to two Tongans who came from Tonga. They did a poem and it was very sad because the girl cried saying the poem. There were Cook Islands who did a drum thing. I liked it because I danced. We went to the last lady and she sang songs. I will try and help to save my environment.
